WHAT TO EXPECT
Join Tara McLaughlin and Antoinette Lum for a retreat in the mountains above Medellín, Colombia.
This retreat will be limited in size, offering an intimate space for guidance and support throughout the week. The retreat includes daily yoga classes, meditation & mindfulness work, fresh locally sourced meals by a private chef, therapeutic massages, and educational experiences on the culture, people, and history of Colombia.
In between the yoga sessions and daily meditation you can enjoy a swim in the pool or book a massage. There will also be organized hikes, activities and excursions including the opportunity to lead a yoga class at a local orphanage!
Most importantly there will be plenty of time to relax and rejuvenate!
Expect rich conversation, space to reflect, fresh approaches to classic asana and memories to last a lifetime!

and ready to move forward from a place of intention and mindfulness.
This is a 5 day/night retreat
beginning the afternoon of Sun. Feb. 17

The retreat cost covers all on-site expenses including
meals, classes, massages, service, welcome gift, and excursions
+ transportation to/from site.
Flights are not included in the retreat cost. Most flights run between $600-750
depending on the airline, departure city, and number of stopovers.
The retreat site is a private luxury estate located in the mountains above Medellín.
Shared bedrooms of 2-4 retreat guests.

all complemented by the peace and serenity of true Columbian mountain living.
My general philosophy on life and in my practice can mostly be defined by the hawaiian word: aloha. While the word is most commonly used as a greeting or simply translated as love, aloha in the hawaiian language is defined as compassion, peace, mercy, and love. The idea of aloha is that you are so filled with this sense of joy and truth that you must share it with others, hence it becoming a greeting. If we can approach our Self and others with aloha in our daily lives, in our environment and community, and in our yoga practice- imagine the possibilities! It is with aloha that I approach my classes.
In my teachings you can expect to see influence from my ballet dancing background (danced for more than 15 years) and perhaps a kick in the booty from running and triathlon training (I’ve completed 5 half-marathons and a half-IronMan)! More importantly there will always be a deep respect to the individual. Meeting everyone right where they are. To have compassion, love, and mercy for oneself so that we can move off of the mat and into the day with complete Self (capital S!) love and awareness.

Tara was introduced to the practice yoga by her High School dance company in 2008.
Continuing her dance career at Fairfield University, she began to deepen her yoga practice
focusing on asana and pranayama. Tara quickly fell in love with the physical and mental benefits
of the practice and felt a deep connection to the yoga community and her teachers.
In 2013, Tara completed her 200 hour Teacher Training at YogaWorks NYC under teacher trainer Chrissy Carter.Her training emphasized proper alignment and purposeful sequencing along with anatomy, philosophy and the history of yoga.
Tara continued her education completing her Level 1 Children's Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher Training, Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga Teacher Training, Reiki 1 Certification and most recently a training with the Art of Yoga Project. This training focused on the use yoga and art to support, heal, and empower marginalized teen girls.
Tara currently teaches a variety of classes that include Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative,
Yin, Teen yoga, and Children's yoga and mindfulness in the San Francisco Bay Area.
She enjoys creating unique sequences that carry along a theme and purpose.
Her classes aim to make yoga accessible to everyone, no matter the student’s ability.
She emphasizes proper alignment and the use of props to deepen the students understanding
of an action and it's benefit to the body. Her intention is to create a healing and empowering class for all, and hopes that her students take the practice off the mat and into the world.
